Effect Of Stress On Your Health
Definition of stress Stress is now generally accepted as the principal woe of our 21st century lives. The constant pressure associated with living in a fast-paced world has created an environment where nearly everyone feels the effects of stress. Suggesting to you that we have found two electronic devices capable of resolving your stress problems may sound like a bold statement but we are confident that the two devices we are going to mention are capable of doing exactly that! They are the RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device and the Heartmath emWave Personal Stress Reliever. What follows will help you understand better what stress is and how it affects you and most of all, how one of these devices is likely to help you. Difficult to define and measure, stress is a term used to describe the wear and tear the body experiences in reaction to everyday strain and tensions. Change, illness, injury or career and lifestyle changes, are common causes of stress. However, it is the effects of stress, like pressure and tension, that we feel in response to the little everyday challenges such as peak time traffic, waiting in line, and too many emails, that do the most damage. Stress is the body and mind's response to any pressure that disrupts its normal balance. Stress “happens” when our perception of events doesn't meet our expectations and we are unable to manage our reaction. Stress expresses itself in the form of resistance, tension, frustration and worry, throwing off our physiological and emotional balance. Prolonged or too frequent periods of stress are likely to be disabling and health problems may well follow. Stress and the consequences of stress are often misunderstood. We look at outside events as the source of stress but the reality is that it is our own reaction to these events and how we handle them that are the factors affecting or causing the stress. The stress we experience in today's world often goes unnoticed and unmanaged. Often people cloak the stress they are feeling and if allowed to continue and increase to unacceptable levels, it is likely to manifest itself in the appearance of health problems. Inability to recognize build-up of stress and to deal with management of stress has brought about what is best described as a pandemic of low-level depression and anxiety. Effects of Stress on Your Health The effects of stress in people are seen physically, mentally and emotionally. According to the American Institute of Stress, up to 90% of all health problems are related to stress. Too much stress can exacerbate a number of health issues including high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke issues, depression and sleep disorders. Additional studies confirm the debilitating effects of stress on our health: · Emotional stress has been shown to be more predictive of cancer related death and cardiovascular disease than smoking according to three 10-year studies. People unable to manage their stress effectively were found to have an alarming 40% higher death rate than non-stressed individuals. · A Harvard Medical School study of 1,623 heart attack survivors found that when subjects got angry during emotional conflicts, their risk of subsequent heart attacks was more than double that of those remained calm. · Harvard School of Public Health carried out a 20-year study involving over 1,700 “older” men and found a significantly increased risk of heart disease in those that worried about their health, personal finances and social conditions. · Over one-half of heart disease cases are not explained by the standard risk facts, such as high cholesterol, smoking or sedentary lifestyle. · A study by the Mayo Clinic of coronary disease victims found that the greatest predictor of future coronary events such as cardiac arrest, heart attack and heart related death was psychological stress. It is small wonder that with stress being such a commonly found malady, an industry has developed to help people deal with it. offering a variety of therapies, treatment and courses, several of which it has to be said, charge a frightening price. It is not all bad news. We have discovered, researched and reviewed two products designed to reduce stress and which should prove to be both effective and affordable. The RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device and the Heartmath emWave Personal Stress Relief System were each found to be effective in relieving stress and lowering blood pressure. There is common ground in the objectives of the devices but reference to a product review for each should make clear the fundamental differences. |
