High Heart Rate and With Low Blood Pressure – A Dangerous Combination

Having high heart rate or low blood pressure are of course causes of concern for anyone, as they show clear health problems, however on their own the two conditions are not that serious and there are very efficient treatments, consisting in both medications and lifestyle amendments. On the other hand, if you combine the two, you indeed get a very serious affliction. The logic tells us that if your heart rate increases so should your blood pressure, after all the blood moves more quickly through the circulatory system. Most of the times, your body increases the heart rate in an attempt to provide more oxygen to the brain so as to compensate for low blood pressure.  Unfortunately by doing so it puts immense pressure on the cardiovascular system as a whole and can have fatal consequences.

First of all a chronically increased heart rate causes severe problems because you heart will work itself out to exhaustion.  Healthy people have relatively low blood rates which are constant over time. In the long term, an elevated beat rate might even lead to heart failure or irreversible heart muscle damage.

There are things you can do to treat your high heart rate with low blood pressure.  You can start by drinking lots of fluids to provide proper hydration, around ten glasses of water a day. After about one month you should see positive results. The extra liquid intake will determine and increase in blood volume and consequently an increase in blood pressure, so there is no need for the hearth to work in overdrive. Exercise is also benefic as it will increase the strength of the heart so the higher beat rate won’t prove to be such an effort for the heart muscles. Caffeine and tobacco are known to increase heart rate so you should avoid them as much as possible. When suffering from high heart rate low blood pressure, as with any cardiovascular disease, you should check your blood pressure level constantly to determine any problems and act efficiently to treat them. You can either visit your doctor or buy blood pressure monitor and take measurements by yourself at home.
