Review of the Heartmath emWave Personal Stress Reliever

The emWave Personal Stress Reliever, made by HeartMath, is a small portable machine that is designed to help users reduce stress levels, balance heir emotions and increase performance in everyday tasks. HeartMath claims Marci video imagehat the emWave device is scientifically validated and provides significant reductions in stress and increases a user’s feeling of well being. The device currently sells for $199 on the company’s website, or less if you want to shop around a little.

There are also versions for PC and Mac computers that come with additional software designed to enhance the use of the machine. Both the company and many users of the machine have made lofty claims about the effectiveness of the emWave Personal Stress Reliever. So, in today’s review, we take a closer look and see if it lives up to the hype.

How the
emWave Personal Stress Reliever Works

After the device detects your pulse rate, the machine uses an LED indicator to display the current level of stress. If your pulse is too quick or erratic, the LED displays a red color and shows blue or green color lights as the pulse slows and stress levels decrease. The machine also provides a systematic light pattern rhythm that serves as a guide to help you slow breathing and thus reduce stress and provide a calming effect.

The Pros of the Heartmath emWave Personal Stress Reliever

The device works as advertised and does a good job of detecting elevated or erratic heartbeat and pulse levels which are signs of increased stress. The breathing indicator light also helps you to control and slow breathing. By breathing in and out at the intervals displayed on the machine, you can effectively use this Yoga type technique to quickly obtain a more calm and peaceful feeling.

The Cons of the Device

The emWave clearly does what it “says on the box” and the scientific validation of tests is reassuring.  However, the unit has a lightweight feel about its construction as does the ear monitor, which at first I found surprising, although its light weight may be seen as an advantage by many. The solution to this is of course to take care of your emWave, as one would any electronic device but I am obliged to mention it.

One thing that you should consider with any device of this type in theory at least, is the fact that if you are able to find a quiet and relaxing place to sit or lie down, you can achieve the same results through quiet meditation and controlled breathing. Nevertheless, many people (in fact the majority in my experience) are unable to empty their minds and relax enough to properly control their breathing and the device will be a boon to those in this category; not least of course, those who are in need of relaxing – the very reason why they are considering buying the device in the first place! You should bear in mind that it may take 5 or 10 minutes before you notice any discernable results, which to my mind is actually quite fast, bearing in mind the benefits to be achieved.

Conclusion

The price tag of $199 may make you deliberate before buying but it if it can teach you to breathe more slowly and ultimately calm and control your heart rate, a major factor in relieving stress, it could prove to be a sound investment in your health.  If you search around a little, lower prices are out there and the emWave is currently available through our own Amazon A-Store at $159.29, which from our research is about as cheap as they get.  However, a purchase directly from the Heartmath Store might be preferred.  The machine performs admirably and for that reason is an asset for people who suffer from hypertension or other conditions aggravated by stress.  For those that need this device, it is recommended………because it works!

Compared:  The emWave Personal Stress Reliever | The  RESPeRATE Ultra Blood Pressure Lowering Device

This is a review with a difference as we are going to compare two products which go head-to-head with each other to achieve the same objective but do it in slightly differing ways.  The two products are ones we have previously written about: the emWave Personal Stress Reliever and the RESPeRATE Ultra Blood Pressure Lowering Device. Before we get stuck in, I should tell you that I believe that both of these products are very good overall. Both devices are similar in some ways and very different in others. Regardless, both of the devices do an excellent job at helping to relieve stress, which in turn also helps to lower blood pressure.

The SimilaritiesemWave PSR box shot

I’ll start by explaining the ways the two devices are similar. Both devices help you reduce stress levels and lower your blood pressure and both achieve this by training you to breath in a more controlled and relaxed manner. The concept is nothing new and is one that has been taught in Yoga and other self meditation disciplines for centuries. The devices employ a technique called "biofeedback",

We REVIEW the Panasonic EW3109W-Blood Pressure Monitor

My readers have been sending in a lot of requests for this one, so I thought it was time to give you guys what you’ve been craving for: a review on the Panasonic EW3109W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor. Because, let’s face it, no matter how good a product might be, it is never actually officially a hot product, until I give it the two bed pans up seal of approval.

Many of you that own this product, have already written in and told me how much you like the unit; so it was really not such a surprise, when my tests confirmed what many of you had said, “This little BP Monitor is AWESOME!” Well, I couldn’t agree more.

Panasonic EW3109W-Blood Pressure Monitor

There is so much to like about the Panasonic, that I hardly know where to begin. Panasonic is renowned for their innovation and research, across a wide range of products; and the Panasonic EW3109W-Blood Pressure Monitor is no certainly exception. They certainly did their homework, when researching and designing this little jewel.

I suppose the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the EW3109W is how well it is made. It is elegant and stylish, yet very durable. Very compact and lightweight, it stores almost anywhere and can literally travel with you, wherever you go.
