It is almost impossible to give an exact number that will denote a stroke level blood pressure, since it depends on how the individual’s arteries will react to the increased blood pressure. A value above 140 for the systolic reading and more than 90 for the diastolic are obvious indications of a very high blood pressure level. When the blood pressure exceeds 160/100 mmHg immediate treatment is required since the patient is prone to either heart attack or a stroke. This qualifies for stage two hypertension, the most severe high blood pressure form, a life-threatening condition.

Stroke level blood pressure may also be characteristic to hypotension. In case of a very low blood pressure the blood does not reach the brain anymore, and in rare cases, this might cause a stroke. The possibility of such an event is indeed low, it only occurs when the patient suffers from severe blood loss or chronic dehydration. It is true that usually low blood pressure is preferable instead of hypertension, but it is a condition that carries significant risks and stroke is one of them.
