Believe it or not, there are firms out there that produce freshly prepared meals, using fresh food, actually specified and formulated to meet your requirements and then delivered to your door! Research and media reports confirm that some of these meals are so good, you’d hardly realize you are on a controlled diet. We have also researched this topic and can tell you that the “hot firms” don’t mess around. They use FedEx for delivery to make sure you receive your meals in tip-top condition! A bit extreme? Perhaps. It really depends upon how keen you are to get going and whether you trust yourself to formulate your diet properly or to leave it to the experts. There’s a price to pay but for an easier route, these ready made meals are worth checking out.

Since we produced the first version of this article, we have continued our research and have found that price is not a reliable guide to quality and success; more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean “better”, nor does cheaper mean inferior. In fact, price is a poor guide overall. Like with good restaurants, it’s not just about the food; it’s all so much down to the management of the firms concerned, the creativity; the quality controls and with food and chefs, it's almost personal!

To be honest, if you are like me and love your food, the meals are so good, your main challenge will be to stick to the diet but once you get in the groove, you should be fine and you can look forward to that feeling that's like walking on air! Next time you buy such things read the label very carefully and look for the sodium content value. The DASH diet also recommends fresh fruits and vegetables at any meal, and almost complete elimination of saturated fats.

Choosing the right foods and strictly following an adequate diet will help a lot no matter what the cause of high blood pressure is in your case. Together with regular physical exercise, a healthy diet is also a great complement to hypertension medication in chronic cases.
